An expression of love to the kven minority

The name of the orchestra describes shared roots, both in the Bothnian Arc and the coastland of Ostrobothnia. From here, Finns once travelled all the way to Ruija on the shore of the Arctic Ocean.

Their repertoire consists of songs and tunes well known in Finland, Sweden and Norway in Ruija. In addition to performing in Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish, Kainunmaa also sings in the endangered languages of meänkieli and kven.
