Nope is a Finnish folk ensemble from Oulu, founded in 2015 and driven by a shared passion for renewing tradition with an unmistakable sense of groove. While their sound is firmly rooted in Finnish musical heritage, the band pushes boundaries through inventive arrangements and original compositions for violin, accordion, guitar, bass, and vocals.
Their debut album Kyllä (2022) showcased Nope’s signature blend of old and new, original and re-arranged folk music. Their second full-length album, Oravanpyörästä pois! will be released in Feb 2026. In recognition of their contribution to Finnish folk music, especially in Northern Finland, Nope was honored with Vierivä Kivi award in 2025.
On stage, Nope creates an atmosphere where both listeners and dancers feel right at home. Their dynamic interplay and keen rhythmic sensitivity make them equally at ease in concert halls, dance events, festivals, and cultural gatherings.
With violin, guitar, accordion, bass, and soulful vocals, Nope crafts music that is both heartfelt and irresistibly danceable. Their sound brings together the rustic warmth of folk tradition and the vibrant pulse of modern rhythm, inviting audiences to step onto the dance floor.
