Aaret is a Norwegian-Finnish duo that specializes in the music of the Kven minority of northern Norway. Aaret’s repertoire consists of both traditional Kven music as well as newly written songs and tunes with Kven language and thematics. Gro Raattama (fiddle, vocals), is a Kven musician, dancer and storyteller. Gro has been working on different projects around Kven culture for the past decade. Jani Suvanto (guitar, cittern, nyckelharpa) is a multi-instrumentalist with more than 30 years of experience in Finnish, Nordic, and Irish traditional music.
The Aeon is an atmospheric psychedelic folk band from Oulu, Finland. Their music slithers into the dark corners of the subconscious mind by means of broad, acoustic instrumentation, beautiful melodies, and writings that various eras and beliefs have left as their legacy. Their albums "Songs of the Great Beast" (2017) and "The Baphomet Dream" (2022) as well as their transcendental, visually striking live performances have amassed a diverse fanbase and international acclaim.
Nova Ensemble is a multicultural folk music group from Oulu, Finland, blending Iranian traditional music with Finnish folk influences. Through instruments, rhythms, and melodies from different cultures, the ensemble creates a unique musical journey celebrating diversity and connection.
hakosalo_tuohino was founded in January 2024 in Oulu, Finland, and has already performed both nationally and internationally (for example in Canada, Estonia, Lithuania, and Japan). They The duo build their soundscapes up from live kantele sound, which is the only sound source, and usually perform with specialized surround sound systems to help the performers and audience to reach their immersive sonic goals. They have also been exploring artistic methodology of incorporating local sonic (e.g. playing trios with field recordings made in arctic locations) phenomena to their music.
Hailing from Oulu, Finland, Rällä continues skillfully and sensitively the beautiful heritage of traditional music from the vast and sparsely populated arctic Northern Ostrobothnia region. The style of playing is raw but creative, encouraging the arrangements to develop from the spontaneous communication between the musicians. The repertoire consists of mainly traditional tunes from Northern Osthrobothnia, but also include traditional tunes from all over northern Finland. A major part of Rällä's musical identity lies in playing for dancers and in the seamless communication between musicians and the dancers. During those intense moments, dancers and musicians become one, and can reach a unique state that can be described as flow or trance.
Solekko Duo is "two old trees grown together", performing music for both dancing and listening. In the summer of 2026, Solekko Duo focused in traditional melodies from Northern Ostrobothnia, around which the duo's own world is binded. Solekko Duo's members are Seija Ylikärppä and Jouko Pääkkönen from Ii, North Finland.
